Realtime Transfer
A FedNow or RTP credit transfer, ISO 20022 pacs.008 out and pacs.002 back, final within seconds. A payment the bank sends can be accepted without posting and later posted or blocked by the receiver, asked about with pacs.028 when the answer never came, and asked back with a return request; a payment the bank receives is posted, or held on the transit account (accepted without posting) and then posted, blocked or returned (pacs.004 on FedNow, a returning credit transfer on RTP). Liquidity management transfers (pacs.009) move the bank's position, including into the RTP joint account.
